Conference information

Is it possible to check in on Monday?

After all, we cannot offer that possibility. Please come at Campus Marcel Boiteux – EDF Lab Paris-Saclay on Tuesday at 9:00 (8:30 for Tuesday speakers, to meet your chairman).

Do I have to bring my computer to display my presentation?

No, our rooms will be duly equiped in order to avoid compatibility issues and speed up transitions between presenters. Please bring your presentation to the chairman at breakfast on the day of your talk, in .pdf or .pptx format, on a USB stick.

Is it possible to write an extended abstract only?

No, authors are bound to write a full article with 6 to 8 pages. All submissions will be peer-reviewed before they may be part of the conference program.

Can I submit an article without registering to the conference?

No, authors must present their work at the conference for the article to be published in the proceedings.

Transportation

In a nutshell: make yourself a favor and choose a one-week Navigo pass (all zones)!

What ticket/pass/card do you recommend?

Purchase a Navigo Week Pass (all zones) for 22.80€ (+ 5€ for the pass material support) and you will be granted access to *almost* all the public transportation options in Paris and its suburbs: métro (lines 1 to 14, mostly inside Paris), tramway (lines T1 to T8, inside or near Paris), RER (suburban lines A to E), buses (in Paris as well as near the conference).

You said *almost*?

Heard about the French cultural exception?

Your Week Pass will be valid from Monday 4 to Sunday 10, leaving you with no travel ticket on the day of your arrival in Paris if you arrive on Sunday. You will thus have to purchase individual tickets for any trip on Sunday 3 (see below), or call a cab.

Your Week Pass does not include access to the Orlyval shuttle service from Orly airport to Antony station on the REB B. Hence an individual ticket (see below) will be required even if your Navigo Week Pass is valid.

What about individual tickets?

T+ tickets cost 1.90€ per journey. So far so good, but hang on...

A journey consists in:

• at most 120 consecutive minutes in métros and RER lines (inside Paris only)
• at most 90 consecutive minutes in tramways and buses (inside Paris only)
• a single bus trip on the 91-06 or 91-10 lines (serving notably the conference venue, the city of Massy-Palaiseau and Orly airport, see Location and Venue)

Changing from a métro (or RER) to a tramway (or bus), or the other way around, will cost you a new T+ ticket.

Getting farther from Paris (zones 3 to 5) center will require a dedicated, more expensive ticket, for instance:

• the one-way trip from Paris to Massy-Palaiseau, closest RER B station to the conference, is charged 3.65€
• the one-way trip from Charles-de-Gaulle airport to Massy-Palaiseau is charged 13.10€
• the one-way trip from Orly airport to Antony on the RER B line is charged 9.30€

The table below summarizes the recommended travel options. Keep in mind that all these tickets are included in the one-week Navigo pass (27.80€) if they are purchased from Monday 4 to Sunday 10, except for the very few ones highlighted in orange:

Where can I buy a pass or tickets?

The Navigo Week Pass will be hosted on a Navigo Découverte Card. You can purchase this card at most counters situated in airports and métro or train stations (those with a clerk inside, not automatic booths). You will need to write your name and stick an ID photo on it (bring one with you or you will have to use the photo booth in the station). You can buy your pass from the Friday of the previous week.

Individual tickets are on sale in almost all métro, tramway and RER stations. Single T+ tickets can also be purchased by cash directly to a bus driver, but make sure that you have the exact change.

Accomodation

Can I book a room inside the conference center?

No, you can't. The conference site is a workplace only.

Do you propose discounted rates at some hotels?

No. We assumed that a significant number of participants would stay in Paris where there is plenty of accomodation possibilities. Anyway, we suggested some hotels easily reachable by foot or by bus for those who prefered to stay near the conference venue. See Location and Venue for more information.

Is Airbnb (or any equivalent service) legal in Paris?

Although some restrictive measures have been taken towards Airbnb hosts in Paris, the conditions to rent one's flat are much easier to meet than in some cities (like New York for instance). Therefore, you can most probably book safely a place through their website.

Food

How many meals are part of the conference?

Author breakfast, coffee breaks and lunches on all four days. Dinner only on Wednesday (gala dinner at Le Train Bleu).

Are there some places to eat near the conference at night?

A bakery and a restaurant are located relatively close to the venue, for the others you will need a car. Another possibility is to take the 91-06 bus line to go and eat in Massy-Palaiseau, where you will find everything you need.
